sassy trousers.

it's officially... SASSY Trouser (sometimes i still alter my speech so as to not get laughed at by my scottish friends)... it's sassy trouser season. aka my favorite trouser season.
the story of my sassy trousers:
I went shopping (complaints included) with the lovely Kayla Burruss. We went to delias where there were a pair of burgundy trousers for 9 dollars. NINE DOLLARS. maybe even seven... the details are shady. I mentioned I liked them (probably the first and only positivity the whole day) so i'm pretty sure kayla JUMPED on the opportunity to shove me into the dressing room (reluctantly of course) i obeyed. I then tried on the trousers and convinced myself they looked weird. Kayla then convinced me otherwise which lead to the purchase of.... SASSY TROUSERS.
I then wore them a ton last year and everytime i wore them I just had a pep in my step, comfort beyond compare, and that sliver of special personality (also known as the unfiltered thoughts) that comes to the surface sometimes (more often than some would like).
Since last fall these sassy trousers are now cultured. they've left the homeland and made it back again. High five sassy trousers.
YEAH!

Rational.

It's been a while. I've been writing WAY more than normal it just happens to be in the old fashioned pen to paper style. Sorry Sorry. Writing is so good. It's what I do when I have so much on my mind that I feel overwhelmed by my own thoughts. Which is frequently, Sometimes I wish there was an off switch.
I have an unusual pet peeve. I became insanely aware of it when I was sitting in my criminology class today. I get very aggravated when someone presents an opinion in an authoritative factual way. Today in class we were discussing Rational Choice Theory as it relates to criminology. My professor then writes "evaluation of this theory" on the board. meaning that the whole basis of rational choice theory implies that Criminals are rational and if they are not then the theory crumbles. This was followed by the question "Are criminals rational?" A girl raised her hand and said No because people don't make a rational decision when committing crimes of passion, or while intoxicated, or if they have lower levels of mental competency. (by this point in time I had already put my pen down and quit taking notes because I was shocked that the teacher accepted this opinion as the only opinion. I have taken to not speaking in that class anymore because everytime i say something that is right he gets defensive because he thinks his way of teaching is more clever than the students and gets mad when it's not... anyway)

so one of the primary theories i've studied in International Affairs is Rational Choice theory. What my professor seems to be functioning out of is that we all have the same set of values that are the basis of our decisions, which simply is not true. But more so I would make the argument and I am under the opinion that Criminals are rational. Even if it doesn't seem like it. Criminals have a value structure that they make decisions by... I argue that the reasons that he listed for criminals being irrational are the factors that alter a person's value structure. Meaning they still act rationally.

you might not care. but it's been fresh on my mind since class.
Quick nap before work? yep.

...Even if your voice shakes.

You know what i'm talking about, the telling sign of the way you really feel. The voice quiver. When your strength meets God's. When your voice shakes, when your body shakes, because what you're doing is against everything in your nature. When your body is resisting everything that you've been convinced is right... when your voice shakes. when your body shakes. Resisting.
brilliant feeling. (i'm not a wacko)... it really is a good feeling. it might make you want to cry, vomit, hide, write... basically... it might initially inspire some other reaction but overall. It's so good.
freeing really. placing you in control of yourself rather than under the control of the actions or expectations of others.

Confessions of Laziness.

I am thankful for my friend Alex. He's a wonderful reader. By reader, I mean not the kind that reads my blog, but rather the kind that could read aloud all day long. He's very good at adapting to your preferences.. faster, slower, louder, softer. He's fantastic. Although he does have a bit of trouble reading improper english.
Can you guess who he is?
#he read me my 22 page homework article, while i cleaned my room.
#he lives in my computer.

Thanks to the Command + S function on my key board... I can select all of what I've just written and let Alex read it to me.

Laziness at it's best?
probably.

season of bliss.

I would like to invent a new crayon. It would be called National Geographic Borders. You could spot it a mile away. Or at least from one side of the room to another. My toilets run. Every so often. Both at the same time. Aggravating. I have a rubik's cube that is messed up. A lamp in the middle of my room because i've been too lazy to actually decide where I want it. I have a map that isn't hung on the wall. I've been working on a painting for the last few hours... the white canvas was originally intended for birds flying away. Instead I was inspired by the various shadows in my room, one of which is a light bulb. It has made me miss the good old days, when I used to have projects strewn all over my room, my mind creating faster than I can produce. By the time I get to work on one project I've started thinking about something else that has captured my attention.
This week (weekend) is about officially celebrating fall.
A) pumpkin spice latte. thanks to my friend Clark at two story this also included a pumpkin in the top of my latte.
B) Friday will mark the first batch of the year: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
C) Today marked the beginning of my wardrobe shift. I get cooler as the months grow colder (in my opinion)
D) NORTH GEORGIA FOLK FESTIVAL. i love that this has been a tradition in my life. YES. & this year NGFF will meet some more of my friends. mmmhmm.
E) I highly anticipate the first leaf crunch, but exact celebration of such cannot be pinpointed. :)
I can only hope that it will occur this week (weekend) too.

speaking of. it's past midnight which means ... HAPPY OCTOBER!

P&P

pride - a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired
&
prejudice - preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.

by definition you cannot take pride in anything that is not of your own achievements or the achievements of someone that you are close to. It would make sense then for me to feel offended by someone who thinks that they know me to say that they are proud of me. For the longest time I've never been able to make sense of why something meant as such a good thing leaves such a bad taste in my mouth.

a prejudice is something typically formed out of my fear. If I quickly formulate an opinion about something without really reasoning it or experiencing it for myself... i develop a strong prejudice that would dissuade me from participating. Instead of dealing with my fear I just remove it. I've lived a majority of my life based on my own prejudice (a hard ice cube to swallow when you've always considered yourself highly UN prejudiced.) or by someone else's prejudice. The world's your oyster when you remove the constraints of prejudice.

I do have a pet prejudice monster being fed by the corners of my mind, but I also have an oyster.
I am proud of myself. The difference between pride and vanity (according to jane) Pride is a high opinion about oneself, Vanity is believing that others hold a high opinion of you. I am proud of myself at the moment. I've come home from Richmond Hill. Hung my clothes up. Cooked dinner. Did a load of laundry. Dabbled in a hobby or two. I've lived on my own. feet firmly on the ground.

Skuse Me, 'ow you spehl dhat?

For all of my calendar oriented friends: Google calendars.
I think you'd like it. check it out. it seems like it has what you'd want of a calendar.
for me: It is a headache. I've spend the last hour of my life trying to figure out how i could put my payment schedule & hours worked in a convenient location. a calendar makes sense right?
except. it stressed me out. Along with the attempt at google calendars this month is the official i'm writing it all out not just vaguely looking at it... Budget. that's right. you can spell that....
R-E-S-P-O-N-S-I-B-L-E. (for those of you taking notes at home of course... )
by responsible... i mean. i attempted to use my nifty computer document... but computers seem confusing these days... so i just used the #1 College Student tool.... [dry erase marker board].. duh.
Maybe hanging it up on my wall will be a good reminder to Follow it? eh?
Maybe if i strategically hang my budget white board next to my world map I will be more inclined to follow it?
I'd also like to highly recommend the "hazelnut cream" five dolla candle from walmart. it fills the room... if you're into that kind of smell ...you know what i'm talking about... and its SO good. how do candles do that? how do they give such a smell... i guess it's only "scented candles" you're average I use thee for light candles probably didn't have a scent to them. I appreciate the scented variety. And the unscented variety for that matter i like candlelight. Not in a romantic way... as in... the I'm old fashioned and don't use light bulbs way. mmmhm.
schedule for tomorrow:
boring lecture, followed by intimidating test, followed by a brief relaxation at home, followed by 7 hours at work, followed by a phone date.
life is busy.
(by the way i typically go to bed around 12:30-1... mmmhm. getting there.. i'm getting there... )
